So today we decided to take another crack at bringing it back to life. Windows was reading the phone as 'QHSUSB_BULK' with about 15 partitions I wanna say, and we found this XDA thread and followed the tool to load all the files back onto the phone ( Files we downloaded). We're fairly certain he bought the phone sometime after release, which is why we chose the 10C partition files, we're guessing the hardware probably changed sometime around mid 2014. After further exploring that thread, it's just a lot of arguing about whether the guy is legit in fixing the phones or not, and we didn't find it very useful other than we got these things back.
It appears we have no recovery and no download mode.
